Louis van Gaal's reign as Manchester United manager began with a 6-0 thumping of LA Galaxy on Thursday morning as the Red Devils kicked off their US tour in style.

Wayne Rooney and young wing back Reece James both scored twice as Van Gaal's new 3-4-1-2 formation worked a treat in California.

The Dutch manager was able to field two almost completely different XIs for each half as only Darren Fletcher and new signing Ander Herrera played the full 90 minutes.
